Contemporary Australian Artists

Those referred to as contemporary Australian artists are artists that are currently creating art. This art can be in many forms including, but not limited to, painting, ceramics, sculpting. It can be realism or abstract.

These artists use a wide variety of mediums, such as paint, cloth, tape and even a human being. Many modern artists have stopped presenting the human form as a realistic copy preferring instead to create abstract or semi-abstract art. Jackson Pollock is famous for her abstract impressionism, dropping paint onto canvas from some height in a seemingly random manner but still with intent to display art from a new perspective.

Many contemporary Australian artists draw on their knowledge of past great artists such as Monet, or our own Australian impressionist, John Russell, who spent some forty years in Europe and was close friends with  Monet and van Gogh.

I, myself, can be named amongst the ranks of “contemporary Australian artists” as that.

My art.
