Ban Bunnings Sausage Sizzle – Vegan Power!

Why Ban Bunnings Sausage Sizzle?

Ban Bunnings sausage sizzle say the Vegans. What? This is a case of a minority group having a louder voice than the majority.

The headlines are full of tales of misery and woe plus the positive aspect of the horror bushfires. Australians coming together to help their fellow man. There are many untold acts of bravery, compassion and heroism in the bushfire crisis.

Vegans

Then jumps up the vegan contingent. They want the Bunnings sausage sizzle banned. They say it contributes to the bushfire severity because meat comes from cows. Cows fart methane. Methane is a greenhouse gas.

The amount of meat eaten over the years has reduced with more people choosing to be vegetarian. So it stands to reason there are fewer cows. Back to Bunnings. The amount of meat in a sausage is as low as 30%. All proceeds from the Bunnings sausage sizzle will go to those in need after the fires.

I respect the right to choose. You can be a vegan if you want. But do not use the suffering and pain of others to further your cause.

Bushfires Devastate The Eastern States

As bush fires ravage NSW the regional mayors are speaking out. They say that the current devastation caused by bushfires is a result of climate change.

Scott Morrison and Michael McCormack say “linking this with climate change is wrong.”

Loss and Death

Properties destroyed and the people killed over the weekend is due to these bushfires.

Michael McCormack said on ABC Radio that people need sympathy, help and shelter. Not the ravings of capital city greenies. His words, not mine.

The Mayor of Glen Innes said McCormack should read scientific evidence. Then make his statements.

bushfires

Carol Sparks (Glen Innes Mayor) believes it is a fact proven by science. Climate change is happening now.

Another Mayor, Claire Pontin, feels cranky towards Mr McCormack. He stated, “we’ve had fires in Australia since time began.” (What the?)

Is Ms Pontin is correct is saying that this would not have happened 50 years ago? Yes.

Politicians of all parties need to unite in forming a plan to combat climate change. And they need to do so now.

Bushfire Blame

Part of the blame for the current bushfires is being apportioned to the drought. To prevent drought affecting the land we should irrigate the land. This can be by piping water inland from Desalination plants.

In the late 19th century C.Y. O’Connor constructed a 550km long pipeline to supply the WA goldfields with water. If it could be done then, it can be done now.

It seems that our Canberra politicians are burying their heads in the sand.

Meteorologists know that climate change is causing bushfires to worsen each year.

Now is time for action

32 former Fire & Rescue Chiefs wrote to PM Morrison earlier this year. They predicted a bad fire season and requested a meeting to develop an action plan. No meeting took place.

Dog Attacks On The Rise — Keep Your Dog Safe

With dog attacks on the rise responsible pet owners need the knowledge to keep their pet safe.

There was a Dachshund killed by a Staffordshire Terrier in Melbourne this week. Each dog owner blames the other for the outcome. The horrific death of the Dachshund.

It is reported that the Dachshund got out of its enclosure and ran up to the Staffy that was on a lead. It is a fact that the circumference inside the radius of a lead is viewed by your dog as its personal space. Should the dog be aggressive, it will defend this “territory.”

But, the pet owner should control the actions of their pet.

In this case, the outcome would have been nowhere near as severe had the Staffy owner not dropped the lead, but pulled the dog away.

Owners of powerful dogs need to be in control at all times and must have the strength to pull their pet away. At least have your dog muzzled.

Looking at the blood residue at the scene shows that the Dachshund was easily defeated. It most likely lay on its back surrendering only to be torn apart.

The fact that the Dachshund escaped its enclosure is sad as it would be alive today had it not done so.

Dog-on-dog attacks are happening across Australia more often than people think.

There are things that may help prevent dog attacks.

Climate Change And Sea Turtles

Climate change Puts Sea Turtles At Risk

You will be aware that Sea Turtles lay their eggs on land. Climate change is threatening their existence. Even though they can live up to the age of 150 years. The average is a 50-year life span.

climate change

Sea Turtles drag themselves up the beach away from the shoreline to bury eggs in the sand. Six to eight weeks later, the hatchlings dig their way up to the surface and face a perilous journey to the ocean. Seagulls and Skuas know when the hatch takes place. They wait for an easy dinner when the baby turtles surface.

The hatchlings that make it to the water are still not safe. One in One Thousand hatchlings are likely to survive.

Now a new fear has arisen. The Scientific Community and Nature Conservation bodies are in agreement. Climate change will cause rising sea levels. Add the increase in severe weather events and the outcome is clear.

The waterline will rise. The beaches will erode. These factors will destroy the nesting sites of the Sea Turtles. Then, in turn, the population will drop. There will be fewer hatchlings, yet the same number will die on the way to the ocean. And so the population dwindles. All due to climate change.

Arctic Sea Ice

2019 Arctic Sea Ice Lowest on Record

Arctic Sea Ice for 2019 Tied for Second Lowest

Arctic Sea Ice

Arctic sea ice lowest on record, this tied with two other years, 2007 and 2016. Recording arctic sea ice levels began in 1970. This tells you that scientists must have been aware of climate change for 50 years.

What is the Artcic Sea Ice?

Arctic sea ice is a vast area of seawater that is frozen and floats on the Arctic Ocean.

It grows each year in the Northern winter and shinks again in the 6 months of Arctic summer.
Historical data now shows that the ice area is less across both seasons in the Arctic. This affects the ecology of the area as a whole. More icebergs are now freed from the main body of ice. Weather patterns change and the ocean currents alter.

Arctic Sea Ice

A quote from climate change senior scientist Claire Parkinson. “This year’s minimum sea ice extent shows that there is no sign that the sea ice cover is rebounding.” This means that the ice amounts will continue to deplete.

Rising ocean levels will contribute to changes in weather patterns.
Ice melts every summer. We all know that. But the changes in climate mean the ice does not recover fully in the freeze season.
As the 2019 Arctic sea ice lowest on record data shows, we are gripped in a constant loss of ice. Coupled with rising temperatures, extreme weather events will become more frequent.

World wide.
